I'm off on my travels again...

This blog isn't just about music and telly and stuff, it's also supposed to be about travel. (Of course I spend most of my time listening to music and watching telly whilst I'm saving up for my next holiday!).

Anyway I've got some news for you - I'm heading off to Gothenburg (with faithful travelling companion in tow) in eight weeks' time for something pretty special indeed. For I am finally going to a Salem Al Fakir concert, and regular readers of this blog will know how special that is for me.

I just wish I could bottle this feeling I have tonight, it's beyond euphoria...!

And as I said in an earlier post, it will also be post-Melodifestivalen season, so I'll be bringing the inevitable CDs/DVDs home with me.

We made our first trip to Gothenburg in 1996. I'd always wanted to go to Sweden - so when the opportunity came up we just had to take it. Long before low-cost-flights, there was the Newcastle to Gothenburg overnight ferry trip, which provided an enjoyable night's entertainment on the way there. Sadly this is no more - it couldn't compete financially with the airlines :(

Anyway we managed to see a lot of the city whilst we were there, amongst other things we had a great night at Liseberg amusement park and went up in the tower for some amazing views of the city, we also spent a fabulous day at the Slottskogen nature park and had an unforgettable experience - seeing our first moose!!

This time we'll only be there for a couple of days, but what a couple of days they promise to be.

I'm glad it all worked out eventually.I know how you must be feeling,I was the same last April when me and Keira came to Paris to see a certain Mr Cerrada.Still makes me happy when I think about it nearly a year later :)

That's funny, when I started planning all this I was thinking about people going to concerts abroad, and you and Keira immediately popped into my mind. I can imaging that must have been an amazing and unforgettable experience. I've always wanted to do this kind of thing for years, but I thought it would be in France and not Sweden. Still, life has never been the same since I discovered Salem :)))

Ah, I'm also so glad to hear that it worked out in the end. It'll be so exciting! And I'll be glad to hear about it all. Was thinking of whether its worth making the journey to Gothenburg from Stockholm sometime, but the trains seemed to be ridiculously expensive. So post pictures, and then I can just pretend to have been there :)
But of course, seeing Salem will be the ultimate. Definitely with Paris, it was nice to be able to enjoy the city knowing it wasnt the only reason we were there. Took the pressure off being a tourist in a way. You'll be walking around the city on a high for ages afterwards. I remember me and Rach coming out of the venue after Jonatan and we just started walking and ended up who-knows-where 30mins later and wondering how we got there and how to get back!

Keira - there will definitely be lots of photographic evidence. I hope I'm allowed to take my camera into the concert too, and that the photography-police don't spoil my fun.

I've been to Gothenburg before so I'm not too bothered about doing the touristy-thing. Won't really be there for long anyway, just from Friday night till Sunday morning.

I can't imagine what state I'll be in by the end of the concert and will probably 'fly' back to my hotel rather than walk. (At least faithful travelling companion will be there to escort me).

I can just imagine what state you and Rachel were in after seeing the lovely Jonatan :))
