Damian has a new blog called Swedish Stereo - find it at http://swedishstereo.blogspot.com - where he promises regular updates about one of my most favourite things - Swedish pop!
Good luck with the new blog Damian :))
blogging since 2007 about European music, travel and all things Eurovision-related, as well as a bit of telly and retro-tastic music.

One singer, one song...
You know I'm just a bit depressed about musical matters just now...and the other day I was thinking about how musical careers of some longevity are often reduced to one or two songs repeated ad infinitum on the increasingly unimaginative radio playlists in this country. Take David Bowie for instance. When was the last time you heard "Life On Mars" or "Starman" or "Jean Genie" on the radio? David Bowie's career as an innovative musical icon has, for the purposes of radio airplay, been reduced to two songs - "Let's Dance" and "Modern Love" - neither of which I'd number among his classics.
Anyway what all this is leading to is a fabulous post written by Kippers at the always-wonderful blog named Too Much Apple Pie. I think this post totally articulates my feelings much better than I ever could, about the ubiquity of certain songs on radio playlists...you have to read this, because it matters. http://toomuchapplepie.blogspot.com/2010/04/three-of-kind-103.html

Throw The Groove Down, R.I.P.
Some very sad news this week as one of my favourite blogging friends Acer Ben has decided to call it a day and has closed down his blog Throw The Groove Down (formerly Pop Unlimited).
You can still visit his YouTube channel Pop Unlimited 2U which has lots of his trademark 90s dance and TOTP favourites.
(If you're reading this Acer Ben, I'd just like to wish you all the best with all your future adventures and hopefully one day you'll return to fill that void in blog-land which will be left behind with the loss of your fabulous blog).

More good news (about my other blog)
Once again I can only apologise for the lack of posts on here. I'm very busy with Planet Salem at the moment, and so I haven't been able to post here as much as I'd like to.
Anyway, something fabulous has happened this week. Salem Al Fakir's official website is back - it's at www.salemalfakir.com - and if you visit that site and click 'fanblogs' you'll find a link to none other than Planet Salem, and the most recent posts are featured on that page! So my blog is now part of his website. How fantastic is that?????

Back in business!
First golden rule of blogging: no-one's going to read your blog unless you give them something to read, so let's get to it :))
As detailed over at EuropeCrazy's Random Ramblings, the majority of my week was dominated by horrendous lower back pain followed by an equally horrendous stomach bug thing, and I wasn't even well enough to blog - yes that bad - although I still managed the odd post.
Happily I'm feeling much better now and filled with a renewed enthusiasm to blog my little socks off. Also, my happiness levels went through the roof on Thursday night when I found out that Salem Al Fakir's second album "Astronaut" will be released in Sweden on March 25th. I try not to go on about him too much on this blog - that's what Planet Salem is for, after all - but I just thought I'd mention this fact anyway. You know what I'm like by now.

I've got another new blog!
You probably wonder why I'm bringing yet another blog into the world when I don't seem to have the time these days to update this one :)
Anyway I started EuropeCrazy's Random Ramblings (http://europecrazysrandomramblings.blogspot.com) yesterday, it's going to be a place for off-topic thoughts and trivial stuff which don't have anything to do with music or TV or travel or Swedish singers I'm obsessed with.
It will be a totally random thing so there may be some days when I don't post anything, and others when I won't be able to shut up. There have been times that I wanted to post stuff on EuropeCrazy but I didn't think it would fit into this blog so now there's a new home for it. Feel free to pop over from time to time, you're all welcome :)))

A brilliant blog about Nice
Two weeks to go till I head off on holiday, and I've discovered a rather fab blog about one of my most favourite holiday destinations. Nice Daily Photo (http://nicedailyphoto.blogspot.com) which literally does what it says on the tin - a different high quality photo every day which gives a fascinating insight into this wonderful city resort.

Automatic pilot.
Another day gone by in a blur. At work all day, then briefly back home for dinner, then the hospital run to visit mum - 3 hours 45 minutes tonight, including visiting hour. The patient is still in good form, and in no pain, but certain tests etc need to be followed through so she may remain in the cardiology ward for a little while yet. All being well, she should be home by the weekend.
Despite limited leisure time I'm still blogging because I enjoy it, even if the news isn't always good these days. I'm also excited about the return of two of my favourite bloggers -Poster Girl (http://poppostergirl.blogspot.com/) and Acer Ben's Pop Unlimited (http://popunlimited.blogspot.com/), both wonderful, great to have you both back in blog-land! Also a big welcome back to Mick a.k.a Tracklister (http://tracklister.blogspot.com) - missed you lots.

Goodbye Pop Unlimited : a tribute
Very sad news tonight as I discovered that one of my blogging buddies Acer Ben has made the decision to close down one of the best pop blogs ever - Pop Unlimited.
If you've ever visited that blog you couldn't fail to appreciate his knowledge, enthusiasm and love of pop music. He put so much time, effort and hard work into every post, and not to mention the task of uploading videos and bringing back fond memories of long-lost 90s pop and dance acts with all those Top of the Pops video clips.
On a personal note, Acer Ben was one of the first people to ever leave comments on my blog and I always loved reading what he had to say. He also always made me and his other regular visitors feel very welcome over at Pop Unlimited. Also, it was nice to come across someone who was as completely mad about French reality TV talent show Star Academy as I was!
Acer Ben's now off into the "real world" and I wish him lots of luck with his plans to pursue a career in the music industry - it certainly needs someone with his enthusiasm.
All the best Acer Ben - and thanks again for your fabulous blog. It will be much missed :((((

Blogging legend on the radio!
One of my favourite blogs is Work Your Magic... (http://workyourmagic.blogspot.com/) in which the legend that is Rachel shares her enthusiasm about Europop/Russian pop/popstars called Dima!
As if that's not good enough you can now hear the dynamic duo - Rachel and Keira - on the radio! Their new radio show "Sounds of Europe" started tonight on GU2, the Guildford student radio station. Head over to http://www.gu2.co.uk/ and follow the listen live link. The show's broadcast from 11pm - 1am every Tuesday and is well worth a listen if you're into European music.
