Mor ve Ötesi in the USA!!
My favourite Turkish band, Mor ve Ötesi will be bringing their brand of brilliant Turkish rock music to the USA in March. As part of the Istanbulive festival they'll play some gigs in Washington DC, New York and Boston before heading to Austin, Texas and then off to the west coast for shows in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Mor ve Ötesi are coming to London!
Just recently found out that my favourite Turkish rock band, Mor ve Ötesi, will be playing a gig at the O2 Academy in Islington, London on Saturday 1st December. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it, (please please please MVO, can you come to Glasgow or Edinburgh some day???) but I thought I'd mention it anyway in case any of my readers are interested!! There are exciting times ahead for Mor ve Ötesi fans: there's a new album, Güneşi Beklerken, due for release in November. If it's anywhere near as good as Masumiyetin Ziyan Olmaz, then it should be a cracker. I love that band.

New single from Mor ve Ötesi
"Sor" is the latest track from the Turkish band's fabulous 2010 album "Masumiyetin Ziyan Olmaz" to be released as a single.
Check out the video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU3ZSfZB26M which includes some gratuitous belly dancing (!)...and Harun Tekin in a black suit. :)

A new obsession.
I can't stop listening to that Mor ve Ötesi CD which I bought last week in Bodrum. Brilliant Turkish rock music! Their name should be familiar to European music fans as they represented Turkey at Eurovision two years ago with "Deli". Their new album "Masumiyetin Ziyan Olmaz" just gets better with every listen, and I will review it soon on this blog. Harun Tekin has a terrific, distinctive voice and is a great frontman. Favourite tracks so far:

Mwah!
OK it may be 10 years old, but on any night in any bar in any Turkish holiday resort I guarantee that this will get played, with an accompanying dance routine by some rather lovely waiters no doubt :))))
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the lovely Tarkan with "Şımarık" (a.k.a. the original version of "Kiss Kiss"):
By the way I bought Tarkan's latest album "Metamorfoz" whilst on holiday and will eventually get around to reviewing it on here. :)
